One of the most awaited launches, the 2021 Royal Enfield Classic 350, has made its debut in the Indian market. The Classic 350 which made fortunes for Royal Enfield in the past decade has finally undergone a major overhaul after more than a decade in the form of chassis, engine and features upgrades.
The new RE Classic 350 is now available in a total of 5 variants and 11 colour options, beginning with the Redditch series, the Halcyon series, the Classic Signals, the Dark series and the Classic Chrome, and prices starting from INR 1.84 Lakh for the Redditch model and going up to INR 2.15 Lakh for the top-spec chrome variant.
One of the most significant upgrades is the new 'J-Platform' 34cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine that replaces the 346cc UCE. The engine which does duty on the Meteor 350 delivers the identical 20.2 bhp of max power and 27 Nm of torque. However, the unit used in the new Classic 350 has its own ignition timing, exhaust layout and fueling map. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The engine produces far fewer vibrations, as it has been equipped with a counter-balancer shaft.
In terms of styling, the new Classic 350 gets the distinct teardrop-shaped tank and the classic Royal Enfield motorcycle bears the distinct teardrop-shaped tank, and the signature Royal Enfield front that houses a new halogen headlamp along with the signature pilot lights. The motorcycle also gets new, wider seats with soft-foam cushion padding, and new handlebars for comfortable ergonomics.[gallery size="full" ids="28548,28549,28550,28551,28552"]Royal Enfield has provided a major upgrade to the chassis too. The bike now sits on a double-downtube unit as compared to the single cradle construction on the outgoing model to provide better stability and refinement for the rider. In terms of suspension, it gets standard telescopic forks at the front and dual-spring rear shock absorbers. The bike gets dual disc brakes at both ends with single-channel ABS as standard. Dual-channel will be offered as optional.
In terms of features, the new 2021 Royal Enfield Classic 350 gets a new digi-analog instrument cluster with an LCD info panel. It also gets the Turn-by-Turn Tripper Navigation, which also made its debut on the Meteor 350. However, it will only be available with the Chrome series and will be optional for others. A USB charging point will be mounted below the handlebar for the convenience of quick charging on the go. The Classic 350 also comes with alloy wheels but it will only be available with the Dark Series.
